Pit of Saron

3 Bosses • Icecrown • The Scourge's frozen industrial forge. Features Permafrost stack management via boulders, one of the most chaotic kiting encounters in M+, and a straight DPS race against escalating stacks.

⚔ Trash Pull Notes

📶 Priority Targets
  • Ymirjar Deathbringer — applies Empowerment aura to all nearby allies, increasing their damage by 35%. Kill first in every pull it appears in.
  • Ymirjar Flamebearer — Fire Nova hits all players simultaneously. Kill or interrupt before it casts.
  • Pallid Horror — high-damage caster with a fast Shadow Bolt. Kill before melee mobs when paired with them.
  • Skeletal Slaves (gauntlet) — numerous low-HP adds. AoE them immediately; they stack bleeds on the tank if ignored.
⚡ Must Kick
  • Fire Nova (Ymirjar Flamebearer) — simultaneous AoE fire hit on all players. Highest interrupt priority.
  • Empowerment (Ymirjar Deathbringer) — the buff cast itself can be interrupted before it applies to nearby allies.
  • Ice Shards (Ymirjar Huntress) — cone frost damage followed by a root. Kick to prevent the lockdown.
  • Shadow Bolt (Pallid Horror) — fast-cast high-damage bolt. Rotate DPS interrupts; this fires frequently.
🔒 CC Targets
  • Ymirjar Deathbringers — Shackle Undead (Priest) is most effective. Polymorph works if classified as humanoid.
  • Ymirjar Flamebearers — Shackle Undead (Priest), Freezing Trap (Hunter).
  • Ymirjar Huntresses — Shackle Undead, Freezing Trap (Hunter), Hex. CC when pulling groups that also include a Deathbringer.
  • Pallid Horrors — Shackle Undead (Priest) or Hex. CC the second caster when facing double-caster pulls.
🔮 Purge / Soothe
  • Empowerment buff applied to allied mobs by the Deathbringer — Purge (Shaman), Spellsteal (Mage), Devour Magic (Warlock) strips it off empowered allies.
  • Frost Enrage (any enraged undead near the forge) — Soothe (Druid) or Naturalize (Evoker). Priority when a Deathbringer is already empowering the pack.
Boss 1 of 3

Forgemaster Garfrost

Permafrost stacks increase the frost damage you take. Walk through boulders to reset them. Pre-position near a boulder before stacks get dangerous.

🛡 Tank
  • Permafrost stacks increase incoming frost damage — walk through a boulder to reset stacks before reaching 5.
  • Pre-position near a boulder before stacks climb — do not wait until you are already at dangerous levels.
  • Face Garfrost away from the raid — Stomp AoE craters the ground directly beneath him.
  • Rotate cooldowns for Throw Saronite — it targets random players but hits anyone standing in its arc.
✚ Healer
  • Tank spikes dramatically at 4–5 Permafrost stacks — watch the debuff count and be ready to spam-heal.
  • During boulder resets the tank briefly takes a gap in coverage — maintain heals through the movement.
  • Frozen Blows in Phase 2 reduces healing received on random players — prioritize affected targets.
  • Save a cooldown for the final phase when Garfrost enters empowered Smash mode.
⚔ DPS
  • Help your tank by staying near boulders — your proximity gives the tank a natural reset angle.
  • Dodge Throw Saronite AoE telegraphs — standing in them applies frost debuffs to DPS as well.
  • Stay mobile — Garfrost's ground stomps leave persistent ice patches that slow movement speed.
  • Phase 2 vulnerability window: Garfrost's armor value drops — this is your burst DPS opportunity.
Boss 2 of 3

Ick & Krick

Kite Ick continuously. Never stand still or you get Toxic Waste puddles under your feet. Krick is immune while riding Ick — kill Krick after Ick dies.

🛡 Tank
  • Kite Ick continuously around the room — never stand still or Toxic Waste puddles form under you.
  • Move at moderate pace — too fast and Ick enrages; too slow and puddles accumulate.
  • When Ick charges (Pursuit), use a major defensive immediately before impact.
  • Do not attack Krick — he is immune while riding Ick. Kill Krick after Ick dies.
✚ Healer
  • Keep everyone above 80% HP at all times — Poison Nova hits all players simultaneously and chains kill low-HP targets.
  • Spread players before Ick's energy caps to reduce Poison Nova chain deaths.
  • The Pursuit target takes heavy burst damage — top them immediately when targeted.
  • Remind DPS to move out of Toxic Waste puddles — they deal persistent damage to anyone standing in them.
⚔ DPS
  • Spread out to avoid Poison Nova chaining between clustered players.
  • Dodge Explosive Barrage targeted AoE — the bomb clusters chain-detonate and overlap.
  • Never stand in Toxic Waste puddles — they persist and eventually fill much of the room.
  • After Ick dies: kill Krick immediately before his RP dialogue begins — Krick himself has no combat abilities.
Boss 3 of 3 — Final

Scourgelord Tyrannus

A DPS race against Unholy Power stacks that make Tyrannus progressively unkillable. Rimefang the drake above assists with ice volleys. Use Lust early — not when things go wrong.

🛡 Tank
  • Obliterate hits very hard — use a major defensive every 3 casts on high key levels.
  • Position Tyrannus away from Rimefang's ice patches on the ground.
  • When Rimefang casts Hoarfrost fixate on you, activate defensives and do not panic-move the boss.
  • Unholy Power stacks increase Tyrannus's damage over time — this fight punishes slow kills.
✚ Healer
  • Forceful Smash briefly stuns the tank — immediately top them during the stun duration.
  • Unholy Power escalates damage continuously — save nothing after mid-fight.
  • Rimefang above deals frost AoE periodically — raid-wide healing required simultaneously with tank heals.
  • Save your strongest cooldown for ~50% Tyrannus HP when Unholy Power stacks reach dangerous levels.
⚔ DPS
  • This is a DPS race — Unholy Power stacks make Tyrannus progressively unkillable the longer he lives.
  • Dodge Rimefang's ice patches and Hoarfrost fixation lines — they cut across the arena.
  • Cleave Tyrannus and Rimefang simultaneously if your spec allows — Rimefang has meaningful HP.
  • Use Heroism/Lust at the start of the fight, not at the end — front-loading DPS wins this encounter.
